Saziso Phiri is the founder of The Anti Gallery, a creative platform that is breaking the mould of the traditional art galleries and exhibitions. The gallery specialises in showcasing art from emerging artists in alternative spaces. Phiri is passionate about bringing light to early-career artists and changing the dated approach of the artist to gallery process." - Len Gordon (Artplugged). Since launching the platform, Saziso has produced and co-pronounced over 30 events from exhibitions to film screenings, artist residencies, art making workshops and artist talks.
Alongside her work for The Anti Gallery, Saziso is a freelance curator and cultural producer, mainly working on festivals and biennials throughout the UK and overseas. Projects and organisations include Migration Matters Festival, FORMAT International Photography Festival, Nuart Festival, Frequency Festival, NearNow, Sadlers Wells and Nottingham Contemporary. Saziso is the Curator; Visual, Digital & Applied Arts for UK New Artists 2021 and current curator in residence at City Arts Nottingham.
Saziso is a founding member of SHEAfriq, a collective of Nottingham-based black women creatives.
