Meet John Dolan, one of East London’s most notable artists. After living on Shoreditch’s streets for the past 20 years, with his dog George (who, by the way was given to him as an exchange for a can of lager). Since then, George has been his most loyal companion and helped John escape homelessness and prison and achieve the artistic reputation he has today. Dolan began by documenting the streets around him, brightening the old, abandoned buildings. His raw portrayals of the streets encourage us all to reconsider our everyday surroundings whilst also questioning our attitudes towards the homeless. Dolan's life has been transformed since Richard Howard-Griffin, a street art devotee and gallery owner put on an exhibition of Dolan's drawings last autumn. Here are some of our favourite pieces...
