We invited long time 'Brothers In Arms' Dark Circle to takeover our store just before we shut for our shop refurb. Earlier that summer i had headed down to my hometown of Birmingham to hook up with Dark Circle's head honcho Aaron, time is always of the essences for both of us so we only had a small window to do some fabric shopping and get a small capsule collection down for the takeover. Once we found the fabric it took us 5 minutes to design what turned out to be our favourite Mimm design to date. The 'Brother In Arms' Tees proved to be our best seller on the launch and throughout the week, keep them peeled for a 2015 takeover!
When i first started Mimm i had in my mind where i wanted the store to be visually. At the time i only had a £2000 loan from the princes trust which could just about get me the stock to start the business so the aesthetic of the store became secondary, first i had to make a business out of what little i had. After 3 years on Broad Street and a whole lot of support by everyone who brought something from Mimm i was finally able in september to reach a target i have been pursuing from the start and for that people i will forever be grateful. Special thanks to Sir Tomahawk who crafted the new store from scratch!

Those who know me personally will know why John Coltrane means a lot to me but for those who don't here is a little insight. My middle name is Coltrane after the late great saxophonist which was given to me by my old man. After befriending a great musician by the name of Philippe Edison (through Warren Xclnce) we shared the same passion for John Coltrane as myself it only made sense to work towards putting out something which paid homage. This beautiful release came out on the 23rd of September...John Coltrane's birthday.

There are many artistic elders who i have the upmost respect for in Nottingham. People who have consistently brought creativity to the streets and inspired me to do what i do with Mimm, such artists as Dilk, Oxygen Thieves and Shrunken Heads to name but a few. One guy i have always held in the highest regard is Kaption Aka Grim Finga, his versatility with the can is second to none, so when this local legend comes to me and says he is going to paint a piece which uses a slogan we coined for Mimm in our earlier days 'Think Global, Act Local' i was honour to of been apart of it. You can still find this piece in Hyson Green at the end of Maples Street, go check that...shouts to Ben!
I brought this free release together to showcase artists who had played for us in the past next to new up and coming artists apart of the Mimm Collective. I feel that this signed off the year perfectly, setting us up for what will hopefully be a great 2015. Click below and check all the tracks you won't be disappointed ...out to westy for getting this project off the ground with his hook up...
This year has been my most challenging but also my most enjoyable. To have had the opportunity to bring to you all that we do whether that is clothing, art, events, music or anything in between is a honour. Please know that you guys who support what we do in which ever form we do it are the reason why we can continue and without you we could not contribute to the Nottingham scene. Heres to a great year and many more...we are only just getting started!
